AZYP's Project IMPACT Nominated for 2024 Strategic Agenda Awards by Mohave County Juvenile Court

At Arizona Youth Partnership (AZYP), our mission is to empower youth and families by creating strong communities through education, community collaboration, and leadership development. We’re thrilled to share some exciting news that underscores the impact of our efforts: AZYP's Project IMPACT has been nominated for the 2024 Strategic Agenda Awards by the Mohave County Juvenile Court!

The Story Behind Project IMPACT

Project IMPACT was developed to address a critical issue faced by many schools: how to handle tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana offenses among students. Traditionally, these offenses often resulted in lengthy suspensions or expulsions, isolating students from their educational and social support systems during a crucial time in their development.

Our program takes a different approach. Instead of pushing students out of the school environment, Project IMPACT seeks to keep them engaged in their education and connected to their school community. The program works with students who have been referred to juvenile probation due to offenses that occur at school, providing them with education and awareness about the consequences of their actions. Importantly, it also involves parents, helping to foster a supportive environment both at school and at home.

One of the primary goals of Project IMPACT is to divert youth from entering the juvenile court system. By addressing the root causes of their behavior and providing the tools they need to make better choices, the program helps students avoid further legal consequences while continuing their education.

Why This Nomination Matters

The nomination of Project IMPACT for the 2024 Strategic Agenda Awards is not just a recognition of the program itself, but also of the collaborative efforts between AZYP, Mohave County Juvenile Court, and the broader community. It highlights the importance of innovative solutions that prioritize the well-being of young people and the long-term health of our communities.

By focusing on keeping students in school and providing them with the education and support they need, Project IMPACT aligns with the goals of protecting children, families, and communities, as well as promoting access to justice. It is a testament to what can be achieved when organizations and community partners come together to address complex social issues.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate this nomination, we remain committed to expanding the reach and impact of Project IMPACT. We believe that every young person deserves the chance to learn from their mistakes, stay connected to their community, and build a positive future.

We extend our deepest thanks to the Mohave County Juvenile Court for recognizing our work and nominating Project IMPACT for this prestigious award. This acknowledgment inspires us to continue our efforts to empower youth and strengthen communities across Arizona.

Stay tuned as we await the final results of the 2024 Strategic Agenda Awards. Regardless of the outcome, we are immensely proud of what Project IMPACT has achieved and the positive difference it continues to make in the lives of young people.

Thank you for your continued support of Arizona Youth Partnership and the work we do to build stronger, healthier communities.
