A group of concerned citizens meets monthly to discuss local youth substance use/abuse/misuse and plans strategies to combat access to alcohol, marijuana, prescription drugs used illegally and other drugs as they may become problematic. This community coalition is funded by the Health Choice Integrated Care (HCIC), via a Substance Abuse Prevention Treatment Block Grant (SAPT) with the State (ADHS-DBHS), and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (ASMHSA) in partnership with the Office of National Drug-Control Policy (ONDCP) via a Drug-Free Communities Grant. The DFC funding is available up to ten-years per community and is aimed at teaching a community how to institutionalize strategies across agencies and partners to combat drug use past the ten-year limit.
